Good morning, and welcome back to 100 Days of Blogging. Today’s card came from the Love and Relationships category, but the question was a personal one so I’ll talk about the topic it had, which was about writing a forgiving letter. (Remember, this is a deck of journaling prompts so they’re not always meant for the wide internet to see.)
Essentially, forgiveness is important because it lets people move on from the things they have done, or what they have had done to them. Now, though, it does need to be kept in mind that if someone does not wish to forgive someone we shouldn’t try to force them to do it.
Because here’s the thing, sometimes there’s good reasons for people to withhold forgiveness. It’s one thing to forgive someone, it’s another if they continually keep doing the same thing over and over again to you. There comes a time where your forgiveness is meaningless because the person doesn’t actually care that they are harming you.
So there we go, some thoughts on forgiveness from me.
