Day 60 of 100 Days of Blogging, Describing My God

Good morning and welcome back to 100 Days of Blogging. Today’s topic comes to us from the World Category and the card says “Describe your ‘God’.”

Well, that’s not a deep topic at all with a lot of theological implications at all now is it? So to start off with, I am going to preface all of this by saying that I am a Christian, and more specifically an Episcopalian (fully confirmed one at that!) and so I am coming to this topic from that perspective.

Saying that, my God is the Christian God, the Triune God of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. They were incarnated into the human condition through Jesus Christ who died and rose again.

My God is someone who cares deeply for the widow and orphan, the poor, the downtrodden of society and calls us to do the same. My God is someone who told the rich young ruler that he had to “sell everything he owned, give it to the poor, and follow me.” The person who said “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into Heaven.”

My God is someone who weeps with those that mourn and comforts the afflicted. My God afflicts the comfortable, and flips tables when a place of worship is being misused.

My God heals the sick and wounded and raises the dead and never asked for payment for it. My God commanded that we love each other and that we don’t judge each other. My God forgave sins and reminded those that thought they were better than others that they sin as well.

That, is my God.
