Good morning and welcome back to 100 Days of Blogging. Today’s topic comes to us from the Life category and the card says, “What’s something from your past that you’re thankful you gave up on? Why?”
Well, this one is easy for me. I gave up on becoming an engineer early on in my college career. And while it was a good idea at the time, it turned out that I wasn’t ready for college course work and wound up failing a few courses in my first year.
However, what that allowed me to do was to pivot to History as my major and eventually getting into the Law as my profession. I also wouldn’t have met my amazing law school classmates without giving up on my Civil Engineering dreams. While I’m sure I would’ve made friends in my Civil Engineering classes, I feel like I made better friends in my law school classes. Especially since I had most of the same classmates in each of my classes, only gaining or losing classmates due to falling grades or transfers into or out of the school.
And honestly I would go to bat for all of my classmates and I’m sure that any of them would do the same for me or any one of us.
So that’s why I’m grateful I pivoted from Civil Engineering to History and eventually Law. I’ve met some great people and have a career I’m extremely looking forward to.
