Day 41 of 100 Days of Blogging, What Would I Do if I Won the Lottery?

Good morning and welcome back to 100 Days of Blogging. Today’s topic comes to us from the Random category, and the card says “What would you do if you won the lottery?”

This is a fun one, because I’ve actually talked about what I would do if I won the lottery, and honestly it’s pretty boring. My plan was never to just go hog wild and spend all of it in one place and get a bunch of gaudy items and the like.

And while this would depend on how much the lottery I won was worth, but I’m going to assume it would be a Powerball or Mega Millions that I would have won instead of like, a scratcher. And in that case, the very first thing I would do off the top would be to take half of the money and donate it to various charities. My church would find itself with a nice endowment to help pay for the budget throughout the year and with the necessary repairs taken care of. The Human Rights Campaign would find itself with a good donation, as well as Doctors Without Borders and Planned Parenthood. Though again, this would also depend on how much I would have won.

What comes after charity would be that my debts would be paid off so that I can continue on with my life without them hanging over my head. And then everything left over after my debts are paid off would go into investments where I would be able to live off the interest that they made without touching the principal. I don’t need a whole lot of things to be happy in my life, so not touching the principal would be easier for me than not.

So there we go, nothing too ground breaking about what I would do if I won the lottery, but there’s what I would do with the money if I had it.
