Day 29 of 100 Days of Blogging, Which Time Period Would I Like to Live in and Why?

Good morning, and welcome back to 100 Days of Blogging. Today’s topic comes to us from the Random category and the card says “If given the choice, which time period (past, present, or future) would you like to live in and why?”

Some people that know me may think that my answer would be the past. I’m a well known history buff and people may take that to mean that I would love to leave in the past.

I enjoy looking at the past and hearing those stories, but I also enjoy looking at them from my iPhone and my laptop from the comfort of my air conditioned house. I want to read those stories safe from the travails of those times, where disease was a lot deadlier, life was a lot harder, and for much of that history, rights were at an even worse state than they are now.

And the problem with the future is, that based on the limited parameters of the prompt question, I don’t know for sure whether or not my family is coming with me. My family is one of the most important things in my life, so if I wasn’t going to have them with me, I don’t think I would want to be in the future. I’d have to either go it alone, or figure out really quickly how to make friends.

So with the other two options eliminated, that leaves me here in the present. And honestly while there are issues with the present, I still wouldn’t want to leave it. I want to be with my family and my current friends. Additionally, I want to be here to fight and shape the future for the people that come after me. The best way to shape the future is to fight for the future you want now.

So there we go, what time period would I want to live in? This one. I have no guarantee as to what the future will look like, and I prefer looking at the past through the lenses I have to look at it here in my comfortable position.
