Good morning, and welcome back to 100 Days of Blogging. Today’s topic comes to us from the Education and Career category, and the card says “If you could choose jobs for your child, which would you choose?”
This gets interesting really quickly since, as of this writing, I have zero children, so I can’t really say what I would pick for a child as I don’t know what kind of person they would be.
However, I would probably take a similar tact as my parents did when talking to my brother and I about our career choices. They said “As long as you’re happy, and can support yourself and whatever family you choose to have, we don’t care what it is that you do.” And that’s something I would like to continue with whatever children I eventually have.
Because here’s the thing, without knowing what my hypothetical children would actually like to do, I can’t be making decisions for them. The last thing I would want is for them to be stuck with a job or career that they hate and be unhappy.
Though, one thing that I do think that everyone should be required to work in retail on somewhere else in the service industry because if you do, you tend to be nicer to people in the service industry, and too many people look down on service employees, even though without them they wouldn’t be able to get their food or goods, or whatever it is that they’re wanting to purchase or have done to their house.
So there we go, if I had children, and explanation as to why I wouldn’t want to just select their jobs for them.
