Welcome back to 100 Days of Blogging. Today’s prompt comes to us from the Love and Relationships Category and the card asks, “What is something not many people understand about you?’
This one is actually a somewhat hard question to answer, as I can’t know what people understand about me since I’m not actually in their head. I could go on about some of my nerdy interests, but the issue there is that I’m not exactly quiet about the things I love. I could talk about the writing I’ve done, but I’ve already discussed it here on the blog so anyone that’s read the previous posts would see it.
Though I guess there’s still a lot of people that don’t understand the writer part of me, given that I haven’t told a whole lot of people about it. What I write is usually fantasy or science fiction novels, with the fantasy novels taking place as second world fantasy novels.
For those not in the know, second world fantasy refers to fantasy stories that take place in a world that’s not Earth. So think more Brandon Sanderson, or George R.R. Martin rather than J.K. Rowling or J.R.R. Tolkien. Either way, I have two separate worlds that I’m working on world-building as well as telling stories in them. One is called Elibesh and one that I’m calling Merrowholt. They’re separate worlds, with Elibesh featuring more of the traditional fantasy races, whereas Merrowholt only has humans as a race for characters.
I like writing because I like the telling of the stories. I also like making new worlds with compelling histories full of exciting characters. It’s fun for me and gives me something to do when I have some down time and I find myself wanting to do something creative.
So there we have it, something that not a lot of people understand about me, I like to write stories. It’s fun, it can be relaxing, and I like doing it.
